Estepona is a town located in Andalusia, Spain. It is situated in a privileged setting and captivates its visitors in every nook. The town’s refurbished old town is one of Andalusia’s most beautiful and offers tourists the chance to enjoy a real urban garden called “The Costa del Sol Garden”. Its labyrinth of white streets, adorned with picturesque flowerpots in bloom, gives it the essence of a coastal Andalusian town. Estepona conserves its customs and traditions in perfect, harmonious coexistence with its more modern, tourist appearance.
The town has a rich history that dates back to the Phoenicians, Romans and Arabs. The Phoenicians came to these shores in the 9th and 7th centuries B.C., founding settlements and mixing with local tribes. At the end of the 3rd century B.C., the wars between the Carthaginians and the Romans ended with the latter's conquest of the Iberian Peninsula. The most significant settlement of the Roman era is to be found near the River Guadalmansa, where there are remains of baths which may have belonged to the Roman city of Salduba.
All the tourist facilities are here, including hotels, restaurants, leisure and cultural activities, and shops.
